We are Jeff Boesch and Leslie Moskovits and our two veggie munchers Asher and Wren. We have been farming together for 16 years since we met as interns learning to grow on an organic farm and started started Cedar Down in 2010. First off, we recognize our privilege to be on the land and strive to use this privilege towards the well-being of our communities. We understand that we are on this land as a direct result of the displacement of Indigenous communities and the ongoing colonial system. We understand that merely acknowledging this fact is not enough and pledge to work towards reconciliatory justice. We will seek out opportunities to contribute to real solidarity and work within our community to this end.
In our work as farmers and land stewards, we are passionate about growing beautiful, nutritious and delicious food and about working in right relationship with the land to preserve the integrity and health of the soil and those who live off of it. We believe that farming this way greatly contributes to the health of our community and the ecosystems on and around the farm.
We hope to help rebuild the connection between people and their food and to contribute towards a more just and healthful food system.
Each year we take on a team of great staff. For the 2020 season, we will be joined by our returning superstar Jess Martin and welcome two new stars – Connor Ross and Amanda Deschambeau – these are the hands that plant, weed, care for and harvest your food!
Our goal as farmers is to protect soil health and biodiversity, minimize our ecological footprint and build community. We are deeply committed to growing high quality food in a way that respects ecological principles and brings people together around food. We believe in honest and open communication with our community of eaters and strive to make fresh and nutritious food available to everyone.
