Potato Latkes

  • 4 large potatoes
  • 1 onion
  • 1 clove garlic , minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 "“ 1/2 cups flour
  • salt
  • Fresh ground pepper
  • Neutral frying oil


  1. Grate potatoes and thinly slice onions. Place in a large colander.
  2. Squeeze mixture in the colander until as much moisture as possible has been removed.
  3. Toss with garlic, egg, flour, salt and pepper.
  4. Heat oil in a large skillet until hot. Add 1/4 cup handfuls of potatoes mixture to skillet and flatten to a pancake shape.
  5. Fry each latke until well browned, then flip and brown the second side.
  6. Serve with sugar, sour cream and apple sauce!
