Cedar Down Farm

Cedar Down Organic Farm & CSA Home

About Us

Cedar Down Farm has been  growing food for Community Supported Agriculture since 2010. We recognize our privilege to be on the land and strive to use this privilege towards the well-being of our communities.  We understand that we are on this land as a direct result of the displacement of Indigenous communities and the ongoing colonial system. We understand that merely acknowledging this fact is not enough and pledge to work  towards reconciliatory justice. We will seek out opportunities to contribute to real solidarity and work within our community to this end.

The land on which we live and grow food is the traditional land of the Three Fires Confederacy of the Odawa, Potawatomi and the Ojibwe/Chippewas and subject to treaty 45 1/2.

The farmers of Cedar Down are:

Leslie Moskovits and Jeff Boesch – owners and farm managers, parents, community stewards, party hosts, grateful for our incredible co-farmers.

Jess Martin – Co-manager and field wizard, attender to all things, keen observer, empathic soul, kid friend  and keeper of track of all things farm.

Ahren Hughes – field worker and fixer of all things that need fixing.  Excellent uncle, brilliant maker and community glue.

Asher and Wren – kids, chore doers, fun bringers

In 2024 we were joined by Suraiya Foss-Phillips and we’re grateful for the energy she’s brought to the farm.  Farhan Patel joined in 2026 and we love him too!

Stone Stewart manages a small orchard on Cedar Down and we are dreaming of fruit harvests to come.

In our work as farmers and land stewards, we are passionate about growing beautiful, nutritious and delicious food and about working in right relationship with the land to preserve the integrity and health of the soil and those who live off of it. We believe that farming this way greatly contributes to the health of our community and the ecosystems on and around the farm.

We hope to help rebuild the connection between people and their food and to contribute towards a more just and healthful food system.

We are committed to providing an equitable, safe, and enjoyable work environment where all people feel supported and uplifted in their work and experience.  We pay our staff a living wage and are committed to ongoing learning and action on our commitment to equity, anti-racism and repair from colonization.

Our goal as farmers is to steward land and community, protect soil health and biodiversity, minimize our ecological footprint and bring health and joy. We are deeply committed to growing high quality food in a way that respects ecological principles and brings people together around food. We believe in honest and open communication with our community of eaters and strive to make fresh and nutritious food available to everyone.
